The Beginning of Me | “Special”

Sometimes I wish I were someone else
That way my life would be perfect
I’d look exactly how I want to
And live like I want to

All of my dreams would be in reality
I wouldn’t be in this nightmare I see before me
Where nothing seems to go just right
Sadness seems to be at the end of every road

But that will never happen
What would become of who I am now?
And what difference would it make if I was someone else
When all I have is me?

Maybe someone else can’t help me after all
Maybe I should do my best to change my life I have now
Maybe this is how Jesus wants me to react
Instead of looking in the mirror wishing I didn’t see me

"Fear" | Poetry by Eric Christopher Jackson
Recognition | BookWorksNYC

The book is a collection of poems written between 2001 and 2009. I did not keep a lot of what I’d written before that time. “Fear” begins the Collection, which was my attempt to discovery how I was feeling. Rarely did I sit down with someone to discuss how I felt. Everything was kept inside. The book became an outlet for my emotions.

At first, there was no real plan to create a Collection. As time went by, the idea made sense, which encouraged me to write on a more consistent basis. I hit a lull as the years went by before writing in bunches when feeling inspired. Naturally, I hope that people will be able to relate to the feelings addressed.

I am looking for Book Reviews. If you would like to Review the Book, please let me know.

God bless.
